Bergen Jaguar is Expanding

Bergen Jaguar is currently building a new 5,200 square foot luxurious showroom adjacent to our present building. The new showroom will resemble a turn-of-the-century lodge, much like something one would find on an English countryside. Natural materials such as brick, stone, stucco, and wood will all be used to create a sophisticated backdrop for select edition pre-owned Jaguars and other previous owned luxury automobiles. Amenities will include a 12 foot long natural stone fireplace, beveled glass French doors, a volume ceiling, craftsman style fixtures, and Italian porcelain tile.
The new showroom will create space to display up to 11 cars. Features such as 6 auto doors will also provide immediate convenience to customers wishing to test drive the autos on display. The grounds surrounding the new showroom will be beautifully landscaped with trees, shrubs, cobble-stone display areas and colorful flowers creating an inviting atmosphere.
Kenneth L. Kaefer, from Franklin Lakes designed the beautiful new showroom. Past designs of Mr. Kaefer's 25 year Architectural practice include the remodeling of Bergen Jaguar's present showroom and many other commercial and residential buildings in the area. Please come tour our new building upon it's completion.

Coming Soon: All New Jaguar Models
Next year Jaguar will introduce an all-new model code-named the x200.It will be a sedan similar in size to BMW's 5-series and the Mercedes E-Class, but will of course be more beautiful and luxurious than any of its competitors: a Jaguar prerequisite.

Scheduled to be introduced in 2001 will be another all-new Jaguar code-named the x400. This car will be produced in Halewood, next to Liverpool. This model will be similar in size to the BMW 3-series and is expected to be Jaguar's best selling model ever.

Many Unseen Changes Made in '98 Sedans
Don't think that just because Jaguar's 97 sedans look similar to this year's model that nothing has changed, because plenty of improvements have been made to this year's sedans. This biggest change is that all 98 models feature 8 cylinder engines providing 45 more horsepower and plenty of added performance over last year's 6 cylinder engines. Other improvements include: dramatically improved sound systems, jewel effect headlamps, side-impact airbags, improved agility and handling, and larger seats providing more comfort to all passengers. Take some time to familiarize yourself with this year's sedan, browse through some brochures and our web site, or call a sales professional here at Bergen Jaguar, we love to answer questions about the new Jaguar models.

Jaguar History Lesson

Pictured above is the SS Jaguar 100 two-seater sports model. It was the first motorcar produced by William Lyons to be called a Jaguar. 314 were manufactured between 1936 and 1940. The car was priced at 395 pounds, about half the average cost press people guessed at its unveiling in London.

AUTOWEEK ARTICLE REPORTS: "Jaguars Rational, yet Emotional"
In a AUTOWEEK article from October, author Denise McCluggage discusses the rational and emotional decision for Jaguar owners today, verses the purely emotional one of years past.
Jaguar has jumped from 31st in JD Power customer satisfaction in 1989 to number 5 in 1997. Simply put, today's Jaguar is not only the most beautiful performance car today, but also is a reliable car and a rational choice. Maybe some will miss the old Jaguar jokes and some owners the acceptable excuse for being late, but hey, progress always has its critics.

Jaguars Will Blush with Such Compliments: "Jaguar's Now a Cat for Winter"
In the January 4, 1998 edition of The Boston Sunday Globe author John R. White sings the praise of Jaguar's competence in nasty winter weather in an article entitled: "Jaguar's Now a Cat for the Winter - and Even Winter Rescue". Forget the neighbor's sport utility whose handling and styling, quite frankly, leaves much to be desired, enjoy a Jaguar in all weather. Take it from Mr. White, "The beauty of this beast is no longer in its elegant skin but in its ability to cope in the real world. Jaguar, once a marquee scorned for its vulnerability is a faint mist, suddenly emerges as a winter cat. The leaper on the hood should be trimmed in the colors of the Siberian tiger, not the shape of a mere warm-weather hunter."

Jaguars: The Animal Behind the Auto Legend

Jaguars belong to the genus Panthera which means big cats and are found in the Americas, a cat equivalent to the leopard in other parts of the world. Though Jaguars are larger and more powerfully built than leopards they are smaller than lions and tigers. Jaguars have usually been greatly admired throughout history. Ancient cultures such as the Aztecs, Olmecs, and the Mayas worshipped Jaguars. The very name Jaguar is thought to have the meaning “wild beast that overcomes its prey at a bound” from the native Tupi-Guarani native language. Jaguars are usually orange with black spots in rosette patterns, but all black and albino jaguars are also found in nature and are especially sleek and attractive. However, though beautiful and graceful, their survival is threatened, mainly because of habitat loss due to human development. Jaguars are rare or extinct in many parts of their former range. The current wild population estimate of jaguars is about 10,000.
