2000 Jaguar S-Type Sedan

The S-Type has received a lot of publicity lately and the public’s reception has been very positive. Its styling does not compare to any other car on the road today. Its front grill and headlights portray a very classic look. Pictures don’t do the car justice, in person the car’s sculpted lines make an even stronger impression. As far as mechanical details go, the S-Type will be available in either a V-6 or V-8 engine. The interior will feature typical Jaguar styling with ample amounts of leather and handcrafted Bird’s Eye Maple. Technically advanced options will include a navigational system with an integrated cellular phone, voice controlled radio and climate systems, automatic headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Bergen Jaguar expects to show the 2000 S-Type this upcoming April. Refundable deposits are being accepted for those who want to be the first to drive this exciting new Jaguar. Speak to Gene Centauro, Sales Manager, to find out how you can be added to the S-Type reservation list.

The Next New Jaguar

Jaguar has already announced intentions to produce a new Jaguar model after the S-Type comes out in April of 1999. Currently code-named the X400, this new Jaguar will compete against the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class. Rumors are that the new car will be possibly named the MK 3. It will likely be a front-drive car with an all-wheel drive option, both never-before offered features for Jaguar.

Winter Driving in Your Jaguar

While driving in the occasional winter storm its important to take a few steps to insure the safety of you and your Jaguar. First of all, remember the importance of slow and careful driving. Whether its snow or sleet, the friction that helps keeps all vehicles in control is reduced. All turns and stops have to be taken with caution. Keep the traction control activated to help reduce spinouts and maintain traction in slippery conditions. If, however in the event you become stuck, deactivate the traction control feature to get out of the situation.

Also take consideration of the following tips:

Try to avoid passing snowplows – especially on highways where plows often remove snow in tandem.

Remember that bridges and overpasses freeze quicker than roadways.

Remove all snow and ice from windows, mirrors, and lights to insure you can see and be seen properly.

Jaguars equipped with weather packages make winter driving pleasurable with comfy heated seats and traction control. Features such as Jaguar’s rear battery placement and full-size spares have added benefits in the bad weather because it helps to create a better weight distribution. Also, be sure your Jaguar is in top driving condition. Take advantage of Bergen Jaguar service specials including the Winterizing Service, Winter Snow Tire Special, and The Battery Test & Electrical System Test for the winter. Taking these steps will help you avoid any potential winter problems.

Brush-Up on Your Holiday History

Maybe you know the history behind every holiday celebration, or maybe, like most people, you could use a little brush-up. Sometimes it’s easy to get distracted during this busy time and never learn the meaning and history behind others and our own traditions. Below is a quick refresher course on each of the holidays Americans and others around the world will be celebrating his holiday season.

Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is an African American holiday founded by scholar-activist Dr. Maulana Karenga that celebrates family, community, and culture. Kwanzaa is celebrated for seven days, each day based on a different principle, December 26 through January 1. Seven symbols represent the holiday and include Mazao (crops), Mkeka (mat), Kinara (candleholder), Mishumaa Saba (seven candles), Muhindi (ears of corn), Zawadi (gifts), and Kikombe Cha Umoja (unity cup). An Estimated 18 million Africans around the world celebrate Kwanzaa, and it’s the fastest growing holiday in the U.S.

Christmas

The first mention of the birthday of Jesus Christ is from the year 354. The actual birthdate of Jesus is unknown and the early church leaders in the 4th century fixed December 25th to be the celebrated day. This date was partially chosen because of traditional pagan Roman celebrations that took place during the same time giving Christians an alternative commemoration. Decoration is a major part of the Christmas celebration and the Christmas tree is widely known as the most popular symbol of the holiday. The traditional Christmas tree goes back to 16th century Germany when evergreens and fir-trees where brought indoors for Christmastide. This practice probably derived from pagan times when evergreens where symbols of eternal life, and trees were worshiped.

Hanukkah

Hanukkah is celebrated by Jews around the world and is know as "The Festival of Lights". It is celebrated for 8 days, starting this year on Sunday, December 13. The holiday’s purpose is to commemorate the victory of the Jews against the Syrians in 165 BC. After their victory, priests entered the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and were unable to find more than one evening’s worth of undefiled oil to keep the Temple lights burning. Miraculously, this amount of oil kept burning for 8 nights until new oil could be obtained. This miracle is the basis for the lighting of the Hanukkah lights. Two traditional elements of Hanukkah celebrations today include the Menorah, which hold 9 candles or lights and are displayed in windows, and the Dreidel, which is a game played with a type of "top" during the holiday celebrations.
